Once upon a time there was a monk and his master.
The monk would always go to his master with his problems.

One day, the monk came to him and told him
how he always seemed to be angered
and displeased by others and how he was recently
hurt by a certain somebody.
The monk felt angry at them.
His master then told the monk to do this,
Take a potato and carve in the name of the person who hurt you.
Get a bag, and put the potato inside.
You must then carry it wherever you go.
If there are others who hurt you.
Do the same thing, carve their name and carry the potato.

After some time, the monk came back to the master.
The bag the monk was carrying was huge.
Then the monk said,
Master, i have done what you said.
But now the bag is so big and heavy.
Some potatoes have even gone rotten and the smell is unpleasant.
It is a heavy burden and i can hardly put anymore potatoes inside!

The master then smiled to him.
And told him to empty the bag and throw all the potatoes away.
The moment the monk removed the bag, his burden was lifted.
The master then told the monk.
When you carve the potato, after some time, you should throw it away.

It is not asked of us to forget only to forgive.
